Sterling Silver Conta de Viana Studs

A traditional pair of sterling silver ball studs originating from Viana do Castelo in northern Portugal. Some associate the beautifully crafted studs as a decorative rosary bead while others saw it as a mark of achievement. Women would collect these beads and have them strung into a necklace or bracelet.  This traditionally was seen as a true sign of success and a wealthy dowry.
