Sterling Silver Conta de Viana Necklace

A traditional form of beadery, this sterling silver bracelet consists of Conta beads originating from Viana do Castelo in northern Portugal. Some associate the beautifully crafted filigree links as a decorative rosary bead while others saw it as a mark of achievement. Women would collect these beads and have them strung into a necklace or bracelet.  This traditionally was seen as a true sign of success and a wealthy dowry. Today, this necklace can be paired with the matching bracelet to combine both for a longer necklace length.  Finish the look with the matching earrings.
